Be our Summer COMMUNITY ORGANIZING intern!
Riders Alliance is looking for dedicated, passionate interns for Summer 2013.
The Community Organizing Intern will work with our organizers to conduct community outreach in targeted neighborhoods around New York. The intern will develop skills in:
- community outreach and membership recruitment
- relationship building and leadership training
- issue campaign selection and execution
- grass-roots fundraising and organizational development
- campaign research
- database management
Applicants must be committed to social change and interested in learning about community organizing practices, transportation policy, and diverse communities around New York City. Applicants must be excellent with people, a strong communicator, thoughtful, detail-oriented, timely, flexible, culturally competent and able to identify sources of inequity. We strongly encourage applicants who can read, write, and speak Spanish and who live in Queens or Brooklyn.
The internship is a summer-long part-time commitment; specific hours and dates can be tailored to a successful applicant. Interns are not paid but are provided with Metrocard reimbursement for all internship-related travel.
